
1. Functions of QEC
In line with the guidelines issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Khyber Medical University (KMU), the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) performs the following key functions:
- The QEC operates under the leadership of the Director/Head QEC, who reports directly to the Head of the Institution and serves as the official focal point for coordination with external regulatory and accreditation bodies.
- Promoting public trust and confidence in the quality, relevance, and standards of academic programs and degrees offered by the institution.
- Monitoring, reviewing, and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning processes across all academic disciplines.
- Assessing academic linkages and affiliations with other institutions to ensure effective delivery and management of academic programs.
- Establishing well-defined and transparent quality benchmarks to be used as reference points during academic reviews and evaluations.
- Ensuring compliance with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by aligning program learning outcomes with the required knowledge, skills, and competencies of graduates.
- Ensuring the development and implementation of Program Specifications, clearly defining the learning outcomes, skills, and attributes acquired by students upon program completion.

Developing and strengthening quality assurance mechanisms to support:
- Curriculum design and review
- Faculty professional development
- Research, innovation, and scholarly activities
- Ensuring that institutional policies and procedures remain aligned with national and international quality assurance frameworks.

Designing and implementing standardized procedures for:
- Approval and review of new academic programs
- Collection and analysis of student feedback
- Institutional performance evaluation
- Preparation of Self-Assessment Reports (SARs)
- Participation in national and international memberships, accreditations, and rankings.
2. Structure of QEC
The Quality Enhancement Cell was established to serve as a permanent and integral department of the institution, dedicated to maintaining and improving academic quality in accordance with national and international standards.
The core objective of the QEC is to enhance the overall standard of education by systematically evaluating academic policies, programs, and teaching practices. Based on these evaluations, the QEC provides recommendations to the university leadership for continuous improvement where necessary.
The QEC actively works toward fostering a culture of quality across the institution through the adoption of modern quality assurance practices. Over the years, significant progress has been made in strengthening academic standards, faculty development, and infrastructure enhancement. These improvements have been achieved through the collaborative efforts of the QEC and institutional stakeholders, focusing on identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and implementing corrective measures.
